First Session of Intramurals
The sports teams have finally completed the regular seasons in the first session of Intramural Sports. Our teams have enjoyed success, endured defeat, and had a lot of fun on the way.

Our soccer team (2-2 (1-1 Sports Cup)) appeared to be in a rebuilding year. We lost some key players from last year and fought hard and did a lot of things well. Our first game, in spite of the score, was a great learning experience. Our second game was an excellent addition to the skills necessary to complete the season and a 5-2 victory. We got our first sports cup win when Lambda Chi forfeited and we lost the second game to the Sig Eps when the game went into a shootout. It took 10 kickers but the Sig Ep team scored the final goal. We look forward to next year and are hoping to build off of what we learned this season.

Our football team (4-0 (3-0 Sports Cup)) has enjoyed huge success. Our offense has been able to march down the field, or even score on the second play of the game with a 65-yard run by our Quarterback. Our defense has been a powerhouse with a huge presence if the opponent has been able to make it into the red zone. In our first game we enjoyed a nice victory as we played our first game with a relatively young team. We were able to march down the field and held the Theta Chi team to only 6 points. When we went to our second game, we faced our second opponent in the sports cup schedule, the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. This game was where the defense proved that they were a force that shouldn’t be reckoned with. This game ended in a huge victory, a 21-0 victory and put us on our way to beating our chief rivals. The third game was another decisive victory and again our defense allowed no points, and had a few interceptions. This set up the offense to continue our successes in moving the ball downfield. Our final game, the big one, was attended by many and both sidelines had a good cheering section. In the first half of the game, we had many good things happen with our offense. We were able to score 3 times and even though we were not able to convert for any extra points. Our defense enjoyed success early in the first half but had some tense moments. After our first score, the defense pinned the Sig Ep team deep in their own zone, and scored the safety when the punt snap was dropped in the end zone. The tense moments came when the Sig Ep team found a way to drive deep in our zone, but the defense kicked it into red zone mode, and stopped a potential touchdown play. The D-Line then make the crucial sack on 4th and goal to bring the offense back out onto the field. The second half was a battle of the defenses. There were no points scored by either team in the second half of play and the final seconds were ticked away to make the final score 20 – 0. The Football team has made the playoffs.

We continue to look forward to having the intramural champs, and look forward to Volleyball and Floor Hockey as the major sports in the next session.
